Steve Easton’s FPCleaner has been updated to Version 188.8.131.52 and supports FrontPage (2000-2003), Expression Web 1.0 and 2.0 as well as SharePoint Designer. Best of all this program is FREE. It is one of the programs I have consistently recommended if you have problems with the FrontPage and/or Expression Web as it cleans up the clutter of files that are left behind. It does not require installation and runs from your desktop.
If you think about “spring cleaning” the leftover files from using these web editors, think about cleaning up your code within the pages of your site. This is a great tool to have especially if you are Migrating from FrontPage to Expression Web and want to clean up the code before moving on.
It is recommended that you uninstall any previous version you have on your computer. The program did not appear in my Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel or on my Programs Listing so I just deleted it from my desktop and installed the newest version. The screenshot below does not show a button for SharePoint Designer as it is not installed on my computer.
The above screen gives you an idea of what FPCleaner can do including:
- Restore Default Toolbars and Menus
- Change the Open Last Web Setting
- Clear the Hidden Temporary Files
- Clear the Hidden Cache (*.web) Files
- Clear the Find Replace MRU List
This is one of the essential tools in my arsenal of tools for web design work.
